Jayden's Story

Hi everyone!
I'm Jayden, a 4th-year student at the University of Waterloo, and during my final co-op term, I had the opportunity to work with the CND OHT team. When searching for co-op positions, I was interested in seeking roles related to public health and health policy that offered a smaller, yet diverse team of health professionals to learn from. Working with CND OHT this term, I found exactly that. In my experience at CND OHT, I had the chance to collaborate with leaders in health, health communication experts, and medical professionals, among many others. Overall, I believe CND OHT is an excellent place to learn and develop your skills, no matter where you are in your educational or professional journey.

One experience that highlights the learning environment at CND OHT was the opportunity to apply in practice various health communication concepts, theories, and practices to enable effective communication in health settings that I have learned previously in my university career. I worked with both new and traditional tools to draft, plan, and review a wide range of media, from simple professional emails to patient-facing posters, and other communication tools. Additionally, the feedback provided allowed me to improve my skills, seeing where I excel and where I can make improvements.

Overall, my time with the CND OHT team has significantly impacted my professional skills and allowed me to grow as someone pursuing a career in health.
